  The Magical Metropolis
Big city flair and rural charm, Alpine heartiness and Mediterranean chic, art treasures and Oktoberfest, traditional customs and hi-tech, beer gardens and haute cuisine, opera and Art Park – it’s this very special "Munich mix” that makes the Bavarian capital so attractive for visitors from all over the world. This is an endlessly new city that never loses its fascination.
  Highlights
Frauenkirche : Visible from far and wide, the cupolas of the Gothic Metropolitan and Parish Church of Our Lady are Munich’s most famous landmark.

Marienplatz and Glockenspiel : Ever since the city’s foundation the Marienplatz (St Mary’s Square) has been Munich’s focal point and "living room”. It is dominated by the Neo-Gothic Town Hall with the glockenspiel in its tower, which plays every day at 11, 12 and 17h.

Hofbräuhaus : The world’s most famous pub was founded by Duke Wilhelm V, who established a brewery to supply his court with beer. A cheerful atmosphere is guaranteed, no matter whether you choose the Schwemme lounge, the Beer Garden or the Festival Hall.

Schloss Nymphenburg : This Baroque schloss was the summer residence of the Bavarian kings and the birthplace of King Ludwig II. The magnificent interior décor, Ludwig II’s "Gallery of Beauty” and the spacious park with its canals, lakes and secluded little garden palaces make Schloss Nymphenburg one of the city’s top tourist attractions.

Olympiapark and Stadium : The 3km2 sports complex was created specially for the 1972 Summer Olympics. The stadium with its daring canopy roof and the 290m broadcasting tower are now firmly established as city landmarks. Today, the Olympic complex is a venue for sporting events, concerts, events and festivals that attract thousands of spectators to Munich.
